This is what I received from another bike group for anyone planning to ride Hwy 33....

Hello All,

I just got done speaking with a friend whom is working with the California highway Patrol to review the hazards of Hwy 33. They have been patrolling it heavily both on weekends, and weekdays. Evidently there is a valid reason for the increase in patrol and tickets.

He found out that CHP has documented 40 motorcycle related deaths on 33 over the past year. They range from single-vehicle incidents, to head-on collisions. Beyond additional patrol, they are now going as far as to search out the larger groups that frequent the 33. This happens when so many deaths occur in a given area.

We will no longer be posting Hwy 33 rides on SoCal Street Bikers website. You all know that I am a huge advocate of safe riding. We all ride at our own risk no matter in a group or individual basis. You are more than welcome to continue riding Hwy 33 on your own. I just feel the risk of incident, or opportunity for a run in with CHP is too great at this time. As of now, Hwy 33 rides will not be posted on SoCalSB.com
